those damned Amis…

Those damned Amis do not understand a dime of the World! They seem to think they’re the police or army of the world. No one gave them the authority to do that kind of job!! NO ONE!!

They can only think with there weapons in their hand! They think the best in the world is the American Dollar, Hollywood, MacDonalds and Coca Cola and the rest of the world has to have it! They did NOT sign the Kyoto Protocol - they give a dime on what the rest of the world thinks.

And then they are suprised that something like 9-11 happened! They are so god-damned dangerous stupid!

WP theme >> Subtle

I found a nice new theme for wordpress named Subtle, supporting widgets and localization. There’s already a turkish .po/.mo file made and I translated it into german.

drupal 5.1

Ich spiele gerade ein wenig mit drupal v5.1 herum in der Hoffnung, da etwas für mehrsprachige Unterstürzung (multi-lingual support) zu finden: Fehlanzeige. Ist auch hier noch nicht ausgegoren, steckt also noch in den Kinderschuhen. Es gibt da zwei konkurrierende Module: Localizer und i18n, wobei Localizer m.E. die besseren Chancen hat, es ist z.B. auch besser dokumentiert.

problem with desktop icons

If you notice difficulties when refreshing the desktop maybe your icon cache size is to small. Set You can set this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Max Cached Icons as REG_SZ to 8000. It’s setting the icon cache in RAM.

Hosting hizmetler arayanlara hostbul.net tavsiye ederim, güzel güzel karşılaştırabilirsiniz.

Kendim müşterilerim için hep linux server kullanıyorum (shtml, php, MySQL, gd2, freeType, gettext isterim) , cPanel Plesk’ten daha iyi bulurum, Fantastico varsa severim… Windows kullanlara geçmiş olsun – dünya’nın en zengin adam ben mi daha zengin yapayım mı?

Fakat hostbul.net’te uyumlu gösterilen şirketleri gene de dikkat etmesi lazım: birisi yeni denedim (baya uyumlu gösterildi), fakat eksiklik var: fiyat konusunda çok iyiler (domain adı 10 YTL, 500 Mb 50 YTL) ama PHP’nin ne de exec() ne de proc_open() çalışmıyor (yasaklanmış), gettext modülü eklenmemiş - yani gallery2 hata veriyor:

Your webserver does not support localization. Please instruct your system administrator to reconfigure PHP with the gettext option enabled.

Dangalaklar! gettext modülü zarar verebilir mi? Mesela ImageMagick de çalışmaz exec()’siz…

Maalesef apache konfigürasyonu üzerinde değişiklik yapmamız mümkün değildir.

diyorlar… dalyaraklar! apache ve php doğru compile etmemeişler; tam işi bilmiyorlar.

Ucuz hosting şirketlerden birisi daha denedik… fakat oralarda safe_mode on ayarlandı, .htaccess dosyasında etkinleştiremedik… Demek ki gene Gallery2 çalıştırılamaz. Orada da --php-gettext bile etkili değildi (demek ki Gallery2′nin yerelleştirme modülü çalıştırılamaz - arayüzünün dili sadece İngilizce olabilir o zaman) – her şey üstünde emaillerin cevaplanması 12 saat sürdü!

Bir de webalizer‘in ayarlanması için için bir  dosya da var: webalizer.conf Ne işi yarar herhalde bazıların haberi yok! Acaba istatistiğin Total Referrers bölümünde kendim domain adı görmek istermiyim?!? Yooo!… dokümentasyonu herhalde okumuyorlar… cPanel al, Plesk al ve ISP ol.
